Scanning Images into PhotoShop

  1. Start PhotoShop.

  2. Carefully place the image on the scanner, image side down. Always place the image flush with the back end of the scanner glass.

  3. Make sure your flash drive is in the a USB port.

  4. On the PhotoShop menu bar, choose File/Import/VistaScan Twain.

  5. Upon selecting VistaScan Twain, the scanner may "auto preview" the image on the scanner. If the scanner doesn't automatically preview, click the preview or pre-scan button.

  6. Crop the area you wish to scan by dragging over the image with your mouse. Don't worry about perfectly cropping the image. You can make adjustments later in PhotoShop.

  7. Click the Advanced button. Choose 150dpi resolution. If you use the Beginner mode, you will choose Color Photo to get a scan that is very large and you may run out of disk space.

  8. Click scan. Once scanned, the image will open in PhotoShop.

  9. Save the image on to your flash drive. Give the file a name and save it as a .BMP format file. Your file should always be named "something.bmp" with the .BMP file extension. PhotoShop will set the BMP options for you, so just click OK. Make note of where you save it. Be organized! Perhaps it's best to put scanned and other imported source files (not the finished web files) in a folder called Assets.

  10. Eject your USB drive and take the image off the scan glass.
