Uploading to your web space with Dreamweaver Unfortunately, each time you sit down at your computer for another class, you will have to go through this operation again. However, it is essential that you do so because 1) it helps keep your files organized, 2) it's less confusing, and 3) it allows you to easily upload files to your web site. Follow these steps. |
1. Near the top right corner of Dreamweaver, either click on Manage Sites or click on the site name to bring up the dialog to the right and select Manage Sites. Or, choose Manage Sites from the Sites menu item at the top of the application. |
2. In the resulting dialog box, select New.../Site. |

3. This page comes up. The Site Name field is just a name for the project. You can't leave it blank, but it can be anything you want. The critical thing here is to put in the path to your thumbdrive web site folder. Click the folder to navigate to it. If you are going to work on a specific project, choose that project's folder (i.e., Project3). You've now told Dreamweaver where your local files are. Now, click on the Servers item on the left. |
4. You'll see this dialog where you will tell Dreamweaver about your web site location. This uses the second username and password from GoDaddy. Click Test to be sure it's working. If it doesn't connect, try clicking on More Options and selecting Passive FTP and try Test again. If you chose a folder name in step 3, put that directory name in the Root Directory field (i.e., Project3). |
5. If the test is successful, you will see this dialog box. Now you can click OK, and Save, and Save, and Done. |
6. If you ever need to edit your settings, you can do so by selecting your FTP info and clicking on the pencil icon. |

For your student (WSU) web space: FTP address: students.wsc.ma.edu Folder: You may have to leave it blank until you create it on your space. Then come back and enter it so that your files go there. FTP login: Is your email login name (but without the @wsc.ma.edu). FTP password: Is your email password. (If you don't have your student web space yet go to students.wsc.ma.edu and sign up!)
